Abstract
(EN) The invention relates to a cell assembly (5) comprising a plurality of cells (9), wherein each cell (9) comprises a first terminal (15), a second terminal (17), switching elements (19), and a capacitance (21), the switching elements (19) are adapted to connect the capacitance (21) to the first and second terminals (15, 17) and to bypass the capacitance (21), each cell (9) comprises a bypass unit (27), the bypass unit (27) is connected to the first and second terminals (15, 17) and adapted to bypass at least one switching element (19) in a short circuit configuration and to not bypass the at least one switching element (19) in an open circuit configuration, each cell (9) comprises a cell controller unit (29), the cell controller unit (29) is adapted to provide control signals to the switching elements (19), such that the switching elements (19) connect the capacitance (21) to the first and second terminal (15, 17) or the switching elements (19) bypass the capacitance (21), the cell controller unit (29) is adapted to provide a control signal to the bypass unit (27) of at least one of its neighbouring cells (9), such that the bypass unit (27) changes its configuration from the short circuit configuration to the open circuit configuration or from the open circuit configuration to the short circuit configuration. The invention further relates to a converter (1) comprising a plurality of arms (3), each comprising such a cell assembly (5).
