Abstract

A method and a related alkaline electrolyser device for hydrogen production are herein disclosed. The system comprises a first and a second electric charge battery 11a, 11b substantially identical, each including: − a first electrode 12a, 12b consisting of copper, silver or their alloys, coated with zinc; − a second electrode 13a, 13b comprising a ferrous catalyst; − an alkaline aqueous solution, 14a, 14b in which the first and second electrodes are immersed; − an output opening 15a, 15b placed in correspondence of said second electrode and suitable to allow the escape from the battery 11a, 11b of gases which develop in correspondence of said second electrode. The batteries are short-circuited with an electric power supply member placed between said first or said second electrodes, with a predefined polarity such that the voltage across the electrodes of such batteries is higher than 1.3 V. In this configuration, the first battery undergoes a discharging process producing hydrogen gas, whilst, contextually, the second battery undergoes a charging process generating oxygen gas. When the discharge cycle of the first battery is completed, the polarity of said electric power supply is inverted, so that the second battery begins to discharge producing hydrogen gas and, at the same time, said first battery recharges producing oxygen gas. The polarity inversion is repeated cyclically so that oxygen and hydrogen are produced alternately in the two batteries.

Un procédé et un dispositif d'électrolyseur alcalin associé pour la production d'hydrogène sont divulgués dans la présente invention. Le système comprend une première batterie de charge électrique 11a et une seconde batterie de charge électrique 11b sensiblement identiques, comprenant chacune : - une première électrode 12a, 12b composée de cuivre, d'argent ou de leurs alliages, revêtue de zinc ; - et une seconde électrode 13a, 13b comprenant un catalyseur ferreux ; - une solution aqueuse alcaline 14a, 14b dans laquelle les première et seconde électrodes sont immergées ; - une ouverture de sortie 15a, 15b placée en correspondance de ladite seconde électrode et assurant l'écoulement, depuis la batterie 11a, 11b, des gaz qui se développent en correspondance de ladite seconde électrode. Les batteries sont court-circuitées par le biais d'un élément d'alimentation électrique placé entre lesdites première ou seconde électrodes, selon une polarité prédéfinie de telle sorte que la tension aux électrodes de telles batteries est supérieure à 1,3 V. Dans cette configuration, la première batterie subit un processus de décharge produisant de l'hydrogène gazeux, tandis que, de manière contextuelle, la seconde batterie subit un processus de charge produisant de l'oxygène gazeux. Lorsque le cycle de décharge de la première batterie est terminé, la polarité de ladite alimentation électrique est inversée, de telle sorte que la seconde batterie commence à se décharger, produisant de l'hydrogène gazeux et, dans le même temps, ladite première batterie se recharge, produisant de l'oxygène gazeux. L'inversion de polarité est répétée de manière cyclique de telle sorte que l'oxygène et l'hydrogène sont produits en alternance dans les deux batteries.
