A charging station (20) that charges a power storage device (120), wherein the charging station (20) comprises: a battery authentication unit (202) that performs mutual authentication with the power storage device (12) connected for the purpose of charging; a communication unit (205) that acquires, from the power storage device (120) for which validity was confirmed in the mutual authentication, a degree of deterioration related to the deterioration of the power storage device (120); a tamper-resistant recording unit (204) that records the degree of deterioration acquired by the communication unit (205); and a control unit (203) that does not charge the power storage device (120) when the degree of deterioration of the power storage device (120) indicates that deterioration has advanced beyond a prescribed threshold value.
