An apparatus includes an optical amplifier configured to receive an input opticalsignal and generate an amplified output optical signal. The optical amplifier includesmultiple amplifier stages including at least a first amplifier stage and a secondamplifier stage. The apparatus also includes a gain clamp configured to accumulateoptical power from the first amplifier stage after an optical power level of the input optical signal drops and provide a first portion of the accumulated optical power to thefirst amplifier stage to clamp a gain applied by the first amplifier stage. The gainclamp is also configured to provide a second portion of the accumulated optical powerto the second amplifier stage to adjust a gain applied by the second amplifier stage.The second amplifier stage is configured to amplify the second portion of the accumulated optical power.

L'invention concerne un appareil comprenant un amplificateur optique configuré pour recevoir un signal optique d'entrée et générer un signal optique de sortie amplifié. L'amplificateur optique comprend plusieurs étages amplificateurs comprenant au moins un premier étage amplificateur et un second étage amplificateur. L'appareil comprend également une fixation de gain configurée pour accumuler la puissance optique provenant du premier étage amplificateur après qu'un niveau de puissance optique du signal optique d'entrée a chuté, et fournir une première partie de la puissance optique accumulée au premier étage amplificateur pour fixer un gain appliqué par le premier étage amplificateur. La fixation de gain est également configurée pour fournir une seconde partie de la puissance optique accumulée au second étage amplificateur afin d’ajuster un gain appliqué par le second étage amplificateur. Le second étage amplificateur est configuré pour amplifier la seconde partie de la puissance optique accumulée.
