A method of manufacturing large lens arrays from glass includes heating glass to take a form of a glass sheet of viscous liquid glass floating on liquid metal. Large lens arrays are made by the method and devices and systems are used for making the large lens arrays. The glass sheet has a lower surface in contact with the liquid metal and an upper surface on an opposite side of the glass sheet away from the liquid metal. The method applies a gas flow on the upper surface of the glass sheet to cause the upper surface of the glass sheet to form a pattern of convex lenses in response to local variations in a pressure profile of the gas flow; and cooling the glass sheet to solidify into a rigid, patterned glass sheet.

L'invention concerne un procédé de fabrication de grands réseaux de lentilles à partir de verre consistant à chauffer du verre afin qu'il prenne la forme d'une feuille de verre liquide visqueux flottant sur un métal liquide. De grands réseaux de lentilles sont fabriqués par le procédé et des dispositifs et des systèmes sont utilisés pour fabriquer les grands réseaux de lentilles. La feuille de verre a une surface inférieure en contact avec le métal liquide et une surface supérieure sur un côté opposé de la feuille de verre à l'opposé du métal liquide. Le procédé consiste à appliquer un flux de gaz sur la surface supérieure de la feuille de verre pour amener la surface supérieure de la feuille de verre à former un motif en lentilles convexes en réponse à des variations locales d'un profil de pression du flux de gaz ; et à refroidir la feuille de verre afin qu'elle se solidifie en une feuille de verre à motifs rigide. Les surfaces inférieure et supérieure de la feuille de verre à motifs sont localement lisses afin d'avoir une finition spéculaire, et la surface supérieure de la feuille de verre à motifs prend la forme d'un motif de lentilles convexes.
