Abstract

Techniques for determining a safety metric associated with a vehicle controller are discussed herein. To determine whether a complex system (which may be uninspectable) is able to operate safely, various operating regimes (scenarios) can be identified based on operating data and associated with a scenario parameter to be adjusted. To validate safe operation of such a system, a scenario may be identified for inspection. Error metrics of a subsystem of the system can be quantified. The error metrics, in addition to stochastic errors of other systems/subsystems can be introduced to the scenario. The scenario parameter may also be perturbed. Any multitude of such perturbations can be instantiated in a simulation to test, for example, a vehicle controller. A safety metric associated with the vehicle controller can be determined based on the simulation, as well as causes for any failures.

L'invention concerne des techniques de détermination d'une métrique de sécurité associée à un dispositif de commande de véhicule. Pour déterminer si un système complexe (qui peut être non inspectable) peut fonctionner en toute sécurité, divers régimes de fonctionnement (scénarios) peuvent être identifiés sur la base de données de fonctionnement et associés à un paramètre de scénario à ajuster. Pour valider le fonctionnement sûr d'un tel système, un scénario peut être identifié pour une inspection. Des métriques d'erreur d'un sous-système du système peuvent être quantifiées. Les métriques d'erreur, en plus d'erreurs stochastiques d'autres systèmes/sous-systèmes, peuvent être introduites dans le scénario. Le paramètre de scénario peut également être perturbé. Toute multitude de ces perturbations peut être instanciée dans une simulation pour tester, par exemple, un dispositif de commande de véhicule. Une métrique de sécurité associée au dispositif de commande de véhicule peut être déterminée sur la base de la simulation, ainsi que des causes de défaillances quelconques.
