Provided are an optical laminate, a light guide element, and an image display device that can suppress the occurrence of crosstalk and can suppress the occurrence of multiple images. A cholesteric liquid crystal layer formed by fixing cholesteric liquid crystal phases has first and second cholesteric liquid crystal layers having liquid crystal orientation patterns in which the orientation of an optical axis derived from a liquid crystal compound changes while continuously rotating along at least one direction in the plane. In the first and second cholesteric liquid crystal layers, the turning direction of reflected circularly polarized light is a reverse direction. The helical pitches P1 and P2 of the first and second cholesteric liquid crystal layers are P1<P2. In the liquid crystal orientation pattern, the rotational direction of the orientation of the optical axis derived from the liquid crystal compound that continuously rotates along one direction is a reverse direction. The lengths Λ1 and Λ2 of one cycle of the liquid crystal orientation patterns of the first and second cholesteric liquid crystal layers are Λ12.
