The present invention concerns a method for determining the content of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids in the retina of a subject comprising the determination of the amount of at least one cholesterol ester in a blood sample of the subject, the content of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids in the retina being correlated with the amount of the at least one cholesterol ester, the at least one cholesterol ester being cholesteryl 5,8,11,14,17-eicosapentaenoate.

La présente invention concerne une méthode de détermination du contenu en acides gras polyinsaturés oméga-3 de la rétine d'un sujet comprenant la détermination de la teneur en au moins un ester de cholestérol dans un échantillon sanguin dudit sujet, le contenu en acides gras polyinsaturés oméga-3 de la rétine étant corrélé à la teneur dudit au moins un ester de cholestérol, ledit au moins un ester de cholestérol étant le cholesteryl 5,8,11,14,17-eicosapentaenoate.
