A touch electrode layer (200) and a touch display device (300). A first electrode (101) and a second electrode (102) of the touch electrode unit (100) are configured to be a trunk and branch structure respectively, wherein a first branch electrode (1012) is electrically connected to a first trunk electrode (1011), and a second branch electrode (1022) is electrically connected to a second trunk electrode (1021). Moreover, the first branch electrode (1012) and the second branch electrode (1022) form an extreme coupling shape of the character "回", which can increase the rate of change of the basic mutual capacitance value when a finger touches; and a third electrode (103) that is in the shape of the character "回” and between the adjacent "回”-shaped first branch electrode (1012) and second branch electrode (1022), and that is not mutually connected, thereby effectively reducing the basic mutual capacitance value Cm, and effectively reducing the parasitic capacitance to the ground.
