The present invention provides: a positive electrode active material for lithium ion secondary batteries, said positive electrode active material enabling the achievement of a good positive electrode mixture slurry that is able to be suppressed in gelling during the mixture coating, thereby achieving high charge/discharge capacity, good charge/discharge cycle characteristics and excellent productivity; and a lithium ion secondary battery which uses this positive electrode active material for lithium ion secondary batteries. A positive electrode active material for lithium ion secondary batteries, said positive electrode active material containing a lithium transition metal composite oxide represented by composition formula (1) Li1+aNibCocMdXeO2+α. (In formula (1), M represent at least one element selected from among Al and Mn; X represents one or more metal elements other than Li, Ni, Co, Al and Mn; and a, b, c, d, e and α respectively represent numbers satisfying -0.04 ≤ a ≤ 0.04, 0.80 ≤ b ≤ 1.0, 0 ≤ c ≤ 0.15, 0 ≤ d ≤ 0.20, 0 ≤ e ≤ 0.05, (b + c + d + e) = 1 and -0.2 < α < 0.2.) With respect to this positive electrode active material for lithium ion secondary batteries, the residual lithium hydroxide amount (L1) of the positive electrode active material as calculated by neutralization titration is 0.8% by mass or less; and the ratio of the residual lithium hydroxide amount (L2) of the positive electrode active material as calculated by neutralization titration after being compressed under the pressure of 160 MPa to L1, namely L2/L1 is 1.10 or less.

La présente invention concerne : un matériau actif d'électrode positive destiné à des batteries rechargeables au lithium-ion, ledit matériau actif d'électrode positive permettant d'obtenir une bonne suspension épaisse de mélange d'électrode positive qui peut être supprimée lors de la gélification pendant le revêtement de mélange, ce qui permet d'obtenir une capacité élevée de charge/décharge, de bonnes caractéristiques de cycle de charge/décharge et une excellente productivité ; et une batterie rechargeable au lithium-ion qui utilise ce matériau actif d'électrode positive pour des batteries rechargeables au lithium-ion. L'invention concerne un matériau actif d'électrode positive destiné à des batteries rechargeables au lithium-ion, ledit matériau actif d'électrode positive contenant un oxyde composite de métal de transition de lithium représenté par la formule de composition (1) Li1+aNibCocMdXeO2+α. (Dans la formule (1), M représente au moins un élément choisi parmi Al et Mn ; X représente au moins un élément métallique autre que Li, Ni, Co, Al et Mn ; et a, b, c, d, e, et α représentent des nombres satisfaisant ce qui suit : -0.04 ≤ a ≤ 0.04, 0.80 ≤ b ≤ 1.0, 0 ≤ c ≤ 0.15, 0 ≤ d ≤ 0.20, 0 ≤ e ≤ 0.05, (b + c + d + e) = 1 et -0.2 < α < 0.2.) Par rapport à ce matériau actif d'électrode positive destiné à des batteries rechargeables au lithium-ion, la quantité résiduelle d'hydroxyde de lithium (L1) du matériau actif d'électrode positive, telle que calculée par titration de neutralisation, est de 0,8 % en masse ou moins ; et le rapport de la quantité résiduelle d'hydroxyde de lithium (L2) du matériau actif d'électrode positive, telle que calculée par titration de neutralisation, après avoir été comprimée sous la pression de 160 MPa à L1, à savoir L2/L1, est de 1,10 ou moins.

合剤塗工時のスラリーのゲル化を抑制できる良好な正極合剤スラリーを得て、充放電容量が高く、充放電サイクル特性も良好で、生産性にも優れるリチウムイオン二次電池用正極活物質、及び、それを用いたリチウムイオン二次電池を提供する。 組成式(1);Li1+aNiCode2+α・・・(1) [但し、組成式(1)において、Mは、Al及びMnから選ばれる少なくとも1種を表し、XはLi、Ni、Co、Al及びMn以外の1種以上の金属元素を表し、a、b、c、d、e及びαは、それぞれ、-0.04≦a≦0.04、0.80≦b≦1.0、0≦c≦0.15、0≦d≦0.20、0≦e≦0.05、b+c+d+e=1、及び、-0.2<α<0.2を満たす数である。]で表されるリチウム遷移金属複合酸化物を含むリチウムイオン二次電池用正極活物質であって、中和滴定で算出される前記正極活物質の残存水酸化リチウム量(L1)が0.8質量%以下であり、かつ前記正極活物質を圧力160MPaで圧縮した後に中和滴定で算出される残存水酸化リチウム量(L2)と前記L1との比L2/L1が1.10以下であるリチウムイオン二次電池用正極活物質。
