A device (200) for medium access control in a node (100) of a wireless communication network (104) with time-shared medium, comprising: - a slot allocation module (204) configured to allocate a timeslot (302) for transmission from the node (100) to a destination node (101) over the time- shared medium; - a validation module (206) configured to validate a data packet (203) before transmission to said destination node (101) based on o a latency requirement (210) for the data packet (203), and o an expected latency (510) for the data packet (203) based on the position in time of the timeslot (302), resulting in an approved data packet (208) or a disapproved data packet (209); - a scheduling module (207) configured to schedule an approved data packet (208) in the timeslot (302) for transmission to the destination node (101).
