This document describes techniques and systems that enable methods for reliable acceptance of user non-contact gesture inputs for a mobile device. A radar field (110) enables an electronic device (102) to accurately determine that a user's hand (112) is within a gesture zone (118) around the device. Further, the device can determine whether an application that can receive input through touch-independent radar-based gestures (radar gestures) is on the device. Using these techniques, the device can present a gesture- confirmation element (122) on a display (114) when the user successfully performs a radar gesture. The gesture-confirmation element alerts the user that the user's radar gesture was successfully performed or received by the electronic device. This allows the device to provide the user with feedback that educates the user about the device's capabilities and allows the user to take advantage of additional functionality and features provided by the availability of the radar gestures.

La présente invention concerne des techniques et des systèmes qui permettent de mettre en œuvre des procédés d'acceptation fiable d'entrées de geste sans contact d'utilisateur pour un dispositif mobile. Un champ radar (110) permet à un dispositif électronique (102) de déterminer avec précision que la main d'un utilisateur (112) se trouve à l'intérieur d'une zone de geste (118) autour du dispositif.
