A method and apparatus of a first network entity in a wireless communication system is provide. The method and apparatus comprises: identifying at least one set of bit strings to generate a ranging scrambled timestamp sequence (STS); identifying at least one initialization vector (IV) field corresponding to the at least one set of bit strings, wherein the at least one IV field comprises a 4-octet string; generating a ranging STS key and IV information element (RSKI IE) that includes the at least one IV field to convey and align a seed that is used to generate the ranging STS; and transmitting, to a second network entity, the generated RSKI IE for updating the ranging STS of the second network entity.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil destinés à une première entité de réseau dans un système de communication sans fil. Le procédé comprend les étapes consistant à : identifier au moins un ensemble de chaînes de bits de façon à générer une séquence d'horodatage brouillée (STS) de mesure de distance ; identifier au moins un champ de vecteur d'initialisation (IV) correspondant audit au moins un ensemble de chaînes de bits, ledit au moins un champ IV contenant une chaîne de 4 octets ; générer une clé de STS de mesure de distance et un élément d'informations IV (RSKI IE) qui contient ledit au moins un champ IV de façon à transporter et aligner un germe utilisé pour générer la STS de mesure de distance ; et transmettre à une seconde entité de réseau le RSKI IE généré pour une mise à jour de la STS de mesure de distance de la seconde entité de réseau.
