Described herein are methods for detection of pancreatic cancer that are highly sensitive, highly specific and also non-invasive. Samples comprising gastrointestinal lavage fluid (GLF) are obtained from subjects, and the levels of two specific polypeptide or peptide fragments thereof in the GLF, namely the alpha- 1 -antitrypsin (AAT) and a chymotrypsin-like elastase, e.g., chymotrypsin-like elastase family member 2A (CLE2A), are detected and measured. The level of AAT or a peptide fragment thereof increases in a pancreatic cancer patient while the level of the chymotrypsin-like elastase, e.g., CLE2A, or a peptide fragment thereof decreases.

L'invention concerne des procédés de détection du cancer du pancréas qui sont hautement sensibles, hautement spécifiques et également non invasifs. Des échantillons comprenant un fluide de lavage gastro-intestinal (GLF) sont obtenus à partir de sujets, et les taux de deux polypeptides ou fragments peptidiques spécifiques de celui-ci dans le GLF, à savoir l'alpha-1-antitrypsine (AAT) et une élastase de type chymotrypsine, par exemple, un élément 2A (CLE2A) de la famille de l'élastase de type chymotrypsine, sont détectés et mesurés. Le niveau d'AAT ou d'un fragment peptidique de celui-ci augmente chez un patient atteint d'un cancer du pancréas tandis que le niveau de l'élastase de type chymotrypsine, par exemple CLE2A, ou un fragment peptidique de celui-ci, diminue.
