Effective utilization of Jarosite waste A method for recovery of metals from Jarosite waste for its effective utilization wherein, the treatment of nitric acid to jarosite waste extracts the nitrates of lead, cadmium, iron, copper, nickel, zinc, aluminum, manganese, cobalt, magnesium and calcium in the filtrate; the treatment of sulfuric acid to the residue obtained from step (a) extracts the metal in the form of ferrous sulfate, aluminum sulfate, zinc sulfate and calcium sulfate in the filtrate; and the treatment of alkali to the residue obtained from step (a) extracts the metal in the form of sodium silicate and sodium aluminate in the filtrate. The silver present in the Jarosite waste as sulfate /silicate is not extracted in nitric acid, sulfuric acid or alkali. Thus, the remaining residue is enriched with silver concentration to at least 2000 ppm, where silver can be easily recoverable and has good commercial value.

L'invention concerne un procédé de récupération de métaux à partir de déchets de jarosite pour leur utilisation efficace, où le traitement à l'acide nitrique sur les déchets de jarosite extrait les nitrates de plomb, cadmium, fer, cuivre, nickel, zinc, aluminium, manganèse, cobalt, magnésium et calcium dans le filtrat ; le traitement à l'acide sulfurique sur le résidu obtenu à l'étape (a) extrait le métal sous la forme de sulfate ferreux, de sulfate d'aluminium, de sulfate de zinc et de sulfate de calcium dans le filtrat ; et le traitement à l'alcali sur le résidu obtenu à l'étape (a) extrait le métal sous la forme de silicate de sodium et d'aluminate de sodium dans le filtrat. L'argent présent dans les déchets de jarosite en tant que sulfate/silicate n'est pas extrait dans l'acide nitrique, l'acide sulfurique ou l'alcali. Ainsi, le résidu restant est enrichi en concentration d'argent à au moins 2 000 ppm, l'argent pouvant être facilement récupérable et ayant une bonne valeur commerciale.
