Claims

1. A system for fabricating replicas of wildlife reproductions, comprising:

a scanning device configured to optically acquire digital images of wildlife subjects, the digital images of each wildlife subject being saved to a library of digital image files within a computer database;

a three-dimensional printer operative to produce three-dimensional reproductions of wildlife subjects; and

a processor having program code for: (i) accessing the library of digital image files within the computer database (ii) responding to an input command signal selecting one of the three-dimensional digital image files of a selected wildlife subject; and (iii) issuing command signals to the three-dimensional printer to print the digital image file of the selected wildlife subject.

The system for fabricating replicas of wildlife reproductions according to claim 1 wherein the program code of the processor (i) responds to a dimensional adjustment command signal indicative of a principal dimension from which dimensional adjustments to at least one other dimension of the selected wildlife subject is calculated, (ii) transforms the digital image file to an adjusted three-dimensional digital image file corresponding to the principal dimension of the wildlife subject and (iii) issues command signals to the three-dimensional printer to print the digital image file of the selected wildlife subject based on the adjusted three-dimensional digital image file.

3. The system for fabricating replicas of wildlife reproductions according to claim 1 wherein a color command signal associated with the wildlife subject is input by chromaticity coordinates issued by the one of: (i) an optical vision system and (ii) a photograph of the wildlife subject, and

wherein the processor controls the fabrication of the three dimensional printer such that the color of the wildlife subject is replicated in the wildlife reproduction.

4. The system for fabricating replicas of wildlife reproductions according to claim 1 wherein the scanner is a three-dimensional scanner for acquiring the three dimension digital image file of the wildlife subject from a wildlife specimen thereof.

The system for fabricating replicas of wildlife reproductions according to claim 1 wherein the scanning device is a two dimensional scanner acquiring a two dimensional digital image of a two dimensional photograph of the wildlife subject, and wherein the processor employs photogrammetry to develop a corresponding three-dimensional digital image file.

6. A system for fabricating replicas of game fish, comprising:

a scanner including a vision system configured to optically acquire a three-dimensional digital image of the game fish, the scanner configuring the digital image as a digital image file for being issued to, and stored within, a computer database;

a three-dimensional printer configured to retrieve a selected digital image file and produce a three-dimensional image of the wildlife reproduction;

wherein optical characteristics of the wildlife reproduction, including external features of the game fish are integrated within print materials for producing the wildlife reproduction.

7. The system for fabricating replicas of gamefish according to claim 6 wherein the vision system acquires the three dimension digital image of the gamefish from a specimen thereof.

8. The system for fabricating replicas of game fish according to claim 6 wherein the vision system acquires the three dimension digital image of the wildlife subject from a photograph thereof.

9. The system of fabricating replicas of game fish according to claim 6 wherein the vision system acquires chromaticity coordinates of the game fish while scanning the game fish for use by the three-dimensional printer when replicating an external color of the gamefish.

10. The system of fabricating replicas of game fish according to claim 9 wherein the vision system acquires chromaticity coordinates of the gamefish from a photograph of the gamefish for use by the three-dimensional printer when replicating the external color of the gamefish.

11. A method for fabricating a replica of a wildlife subject, comprising the steps of: selecting a wildlife subject from a computer database containing a library of stored, three-dimensional image files of wildlife subjects, each three-dimensional image file containing characteristic features of the wildlife subjects,

selecting a principal dimension associated with at least one characteristic feature of the selected wildlife subject, which principal dimension is used to estimate dimensions associated of other features of the selected wildlife subject;

calculating the dimensions of at least one the other features of the selected wildlife subject from the principal dimension to modify the three-dimensional image file of the selected wildlife subject; and

fabricating the replica of the wildlife subject based on the modified three-dimensional image file.

12. A method for fabricating a replica of a game fish, comprising the steps of:

selecting a game fish from a computer database containing a library of stored, three-dimensional image files of such game fish, each three-dimensional image file containing characteristic features of the game fish,

selecting a principal dimension associated with at least one characteristic feature of the selected game fish, which principal dimension is used to estimate dimensions associated of other features of the selected game fish;

calculating the dimensions of at least one the other features of the selected game fish from the principal dimension to modify the three-dimensional image file of the selected game fish; and

fabricating the replica of the game fish based on the modified three-dimensional image file.

13. The method for fabricating a replica of a game fish according to claim 12 further comprising the step of

filtering digital images to reduce the image complexity of the three-dimensional image.

14. The method according to claim 12 wherein the step of selecting a game fish from a computer database containing a library of stored, three-dimensional image files of such game fish is performed by a mobile device.

15. A method for fabricating a wildlife reproduction, comprising the steps of:

placing a first reference device pertaining to scale to provide an accurate size reference for fabricating the wildlife reproduction of the wildlife subject;

placing a second reference device having known chromaticity coordinates to provide a color reference for fabricating the wildlife reproduction of the wildlife subject; photographing the wildlife subject, in combination with the first and second reference devices, at one or more predefined locations to produce two dimensional photographic image data;

using photogrammetry to configure a three dimensional image file from two dimensional photographic image data; and

fabricating a three dimensional wildlife reproduction from the three dimensional image file.

16. The method according to claim 14 wherein the step of photographing the wildlife subject is performed by a mobile device.

17. The method of claim 15 wherein the step of fabricating the three dimension wildlife reproduction from the three dimensional image file includes the steps of

printing a three dimensional mold from the three dimensional image file; and fabricating the wildlife reproduction of the wildlife subject from the three dimensional mold.
