Venting systems and methods are provided for a fuel system of an engine. In at least one example, the fuel system includes a fuel tank connected to a vapor recovery canister via a main conduit. The venting system includes an electrically actuated vent control valve, a plurality of sensors, and a control unit coupled to the sensors and to the electrically actuated vent control valve. The vent control valve is configured for being installed in the main conduit to thereby enable selectively opening or closing fluid communication between the fuel tank and the vapor recovery canister. The plurality of sensors are configured for providing data indicative of conditions relating to the tank. The control unit is configured for operating the electrically actuated vent control valve to open or close the fluid communication according to first predetermined criteria, wherein the first predetermined criteria include minimizing risk of liquid carry over (LCO) from the fuel tank to the vapor recovery canister. A corresponding method is also provided.

L'invention concerne des systèmes et des procédés pour un système de carburant d'un moteur. Dans au moins un exemple, le système de carburant comprend un réservoir de carburant relié à une cartouche de récupération de vapeur par l'intermédiaire d'un conduit principal. Le système d'évacuation comprend une vanne de commande d'évacuation à actionnement électrique, une pluralité de capteurs, et une unité de commande couplée aux capteurs et à la vanne de commande d'évacuation à actionnement électrique. La vanne de commande d'évacuation est configurée de façon à être installée dans le conduit principal de façon à permettre ainsi l'ouverture ou la fermeture sélective d'une communication vis-à-vis des fluides entre le réservoir de carburant et la cartouche de récupération de vapeur. La pluralité de capteurs sont configurés de façon à délivrer des données indiquant des conditions concernant le réservoir. L'unité de commande est configurée de façon à faire fonctionner la vanne de commande d'évacuation à actionnement électrique de façon à ouvrir ou à fermer la communication vis-à-vis des fluides selon des premiers critères prédéterminés, les premiers critères prédéterminés comprenant la minimisation du risque de transfert de liquide (LCO) à partir du réservoir de carburant jusqu'à la cartouche de récupération de vapeur. L’invention concerne également un procédé correspondant.
