A polymer composition has been developed that provides low viscosity oil-in-water polymer emulsions that release the polymer in the emulsion at a faster rate and without an additional surfactant when the emulsion is added to a hydrocarbon stream. Use of a temperature-sensitive emulsifying surfactant facilitates inversion of the oil-in-water polymer emulsion when applied to a hydrocarbon composition at a temperature sufficiently high to destabilize the emulsion. These compositions are particularly useful as drag reducers for delivery to a subsea flowline via an umbilical line.

L'invention concerne une composition de polymère qui fournit des émulsions de polymère d'huile dans l'eau à faible viscosité qui libèrent le polymère dans l'émulsion à une vitesse plus rapide et sans tensioactif supplémentaire lorsque l'émulsion est ajoutée à un courant d'hydrocarbure. L'utilisation d'un tensioactif émulsifiant sensible à la température facilite l'inversion de l'émulsion de polymère huile dans l'eau lorsqu'elle est appliquée à une composition d'hydrocarbure à une température suffisamment élevée pour déstabiliser l'émulsion. Ces compositions sont particulièrement utiles en tant que réducteurs de traînée pour l'apport à une conduite d'écoulement sous-marine par l'intermédiaire d'une ligne ombilicale.
