Abstract

There is provided herein an inorganic flame retarded particulate having a surface coating, which surface coating is the reaction product of the inorganic flame retardant and boric acid, and stearic acid. There is also provided a flame retarded polyolefin polymer composition comprising a thermoplastic polyolefin polymer and the inorganic flame retarded particulate. There is further provided a method for making a flame retarded polyolefin polymer composition as well as wire and cable sheathing containing the same.

L'invention concerne une particule inorganique ignifugée ayant un revêtement de surface, lequel revêtement de surface est le produit de réaction de l'ignifugeant inorganique et de l'acide borique, et de l'acide stéarique. L'invention concerne également une composition de polymère de polyoléfine ignifugée comprenant un polymère de polyoléfine thermoplastique et la particule ignifuge inorganique. L'invention concerne en outre un procédé de fabrication d'une composition de polymère de polyoléfine ignifugée ainsi que du fil et une gaine de câble la contenant.
