This doctor chamber coater 1 has a configuration wherein: a supply port 201 is provided in the lower part of one end of a doctor chamber 2 in the axial direction 3a of a roll 3; a discharge port 202 is provided in the lower part of the other end of the doctor chamber 2 in the axial direction 3a of the roll 3; and a supply device 4 supplies a coating liquid 1a into the doctor chamber 2 from the supply port 201 so that the flow velocity of the coating liquid 1a along the axial direction 3a of the roll 3 in the bottom of the doctor chamber 2 is at least 0.1 m/s.
