A method and apparatus are provided for generating a channel state information report having information corresponding to a set of layers. The method includes receiving (1202) a set of reference signals transmitted from a network, and identifying (1204) a set of beams. Amplitude and phase coefficient vectors are obtained (1206), wherein each pair of the amplitude and phase coefficient vectors corresponds to a beam in the set of beams in each layer. The layers are partitioned (1208) into a set of layer-groups. A beam bitmap vector is generated (1210) for each layer-group. A coefficient bitmap vector is generated (1212) for each of the selected set of beams indicating the coefficients with non-zero amplitude values, based on the beam bit map vector. The channel state information report including at least the beam bitmap vector and the coefficient bitmap vector is transmitted (1214) to the network.

La présente invention concerne un procédé et un appareil pour générer un rapport d'informations d'état de canal qui a des informations qui correspondent à un ensemble de couches. Le procédé comprend la réception (1202) d'un ensemble de signaux de référence transmis à partir d'un réseau, et l'identification (1204) d'un ensemble de faisceaux. Des vecteurs d'amplitude et de coefficient de phase sont obtenus (1206), chaque paire des vecteurs d'amplitude et de coefficient de phase correspondant à un faisceau dans l'ensemble de faisceaux dans chaque couche. Les couches sont partitionnées (1208) en un ensemble de groupes de couches. Un vecteur bitmap de faisceau est généré (1210) pour chaque groupe de couches.
