Abstract

A method of coating a carbon component with silicon-silicon carbide. The method involves sequentially applying and drying onto at least a part of the carbon component a first composition comprising silicon carbide, carbon, a binder and a solvent, and a second composition comprising silicon, a binder and water. The coating compositions are then fired to provide the silicon-silicon carbide coating on the carbon component. The method may allow a more controlled and cost-effectivesilicon-silicon carbide coating, particularly for relatively complex carbon components such as degassing rotors. A carbon component comprising the silicon-silicon coating and coating compositions for use forming said coating are also provided

L'invention concerne un procédé de revêtement d'un composant de carbone avec du silicium-carbure de silicium. Le procédé consiste à appliquer et à sécher séquentiellement sur au moins une partie du composant de carbone une première composition comportant du carbure de silicium, du carbone, un liant et un solvant, et une seconde composition comportant du silicium, un liant et de l'eau. Les compositions de revêtement sont ensuite cuites pour fournir le revêtement de silicium-carbure de silicium sur le composant de carbone. Le procédé peut permettre un revêtement mieux maîtrisé et plus rentable de silicium-carbure de silicium, en particulier pour des composants de carbone relativement complexes tels que des rotors de dégazage. L'invention concerne également un composant de carbone comprenant le revêtement de silicium-carbure de silicium et des compositions de revêtement destinées à être utilisées pour former ledit revêtement.
