The present invention relates to an improved process for preparing 2,4-dichloro-6-(4- methoxyphenyl)-1,3,5-triazine (DICAT) comprising reacting 4-bromoanisole with magnesium, and reacting the resulting Grignard reagent with cyanuric chloride, wherein the magnesium comprises additional metals as impurities in an amount of less than 0.027 % by weight, based on the total weight of the magnesium.

La présente invention concerne un procédé amélioré de préparation de 2,4-dichloro-6-(4-méthoxyphényl)-1,3,5-triazine (DICAT) comprenant la réaction du 4-bromoanisole avec du magnésium, et la réaction du réactif de Grignard résultant avec du chlorure cyanurique, le magnésium comprenant des métaux supplémentaires en tant qu'impuretés dans une quantité inférieure à 0,027 % en poids, sur la base du poids total du magnésium.
