The invention relates to a method for compressing sensor data (I), wherein the sensor data (I) are fed to an autoencoder (100) and wherein the compressed sensor data are detected depending on output data (Z) which are then applied at an output of an encoder (120) of the autoencoder (100), and depending on a compression (K) of a reconstruction error (R, S) of the autoencoder (100).
