Methods for detecting a time-of-flight include: emitting a light pulse toward a target; detecting a presence of light received at a light detector; obtaining a delay time between emitting the light pulse and detecting the presence of the light at the light detector; responsive to obtaining the delay time, (a) updating an overall intensity counter that counts a total number of delay times that have been obtained and (b) updating a delay time counter out of a plurality of different delay time counters, wherein each delay time counter counts a total number of delay times obtained that have a corresponding delay time value; and monitoring a threshold of each delay time counter to determine whether a threshold value is exceeded.

L'invention concerne des procédés de détection d'un temps de vol qui comprennent : l'émission d'une impulsion lumineuse vers une cible ; la détection d'une présence de lumière reçue au niveau d'un détecteur de lumière ; l'obtention d'un temps de retard entre l'émission de l'impulsion lumineuse et la détection de la présence de la lumière au niveau du détecteur de lumière ; en réponse à l'obtention du temps de retard, (a) la mise à jour d'un compteur d'intensité globale qui compte un nombre total de temps de retard qui ont été obtenus et (b) la mise à jour d'un compteur de temps de retard parmi une pluralité de compteurs de temps de retard différents, chaque compteur de temps de retard comptant un nombre total de temps de retard obtenus qui ont une valeur de temps de retard correspondante ; et la surveillance d'un seuil de chaque compteur de temps de retard pour déterminer si une valeur de seuil est dépassée.
