Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Orten eines Kraftfahrzeugs (10), bei welchem mittels einer Ortungseinrichtung (16) eines ersten Kraftfahrzeugs (10, A) über ein globales Navgationssatellitensystem (12) eine erste Position des ersten Kraftfahrzeugs (10, A) ermittelt wird, mittels einer Signalerfassungseinrichtung (20) eine Signaleigenschaft eines Signals einer Fahrzeug-zu-Fahrzeugkommunikation (18) zwischen dem ersten Kraftfahrzeug (10, A) und einem zweiten Kraftfahrzeug (10, B) ermittelt wird, mittels einer elektronischen Recheneinrichtung (22) in Abhängigkeit von der ermittelten Signaleigenschaft des Signals der Fahrzeug-zu-Fahrzeugkommunikation (18) eine Relativposition zwischen dem ersten Kraftfahrzeug (10, A) und dem zweiten Kraftfahrzeug (10, B) ermittelt wird, und mittels der elektronischen Recheneinrichtung (22) in Abhängigkeit von der Relativposition und der ersten Position des ersten Kraftfahrzeugs (10, A) eine zweite Position des zweiten Kraftfahrzeugs (10, B) ermittelt wird.
