Process of treating an aqueous solution comprising arsenic impurities, such as an electrolyte from electrorefining of copper, the process comprising reducing As(V) to As(III) using SO2; and removing As(III) via cation exchange using a chelating resin, such as a polymeric resin with a polyhydroxy amine functional group. The process can further comprise membrane contact between electrolyte feed stream and reduction reaction product stream to transfer residual SO2 in the product stream to the electrolyte feed steam.

L'invention concerne un procédé de traitement d'une solution aqueuse comprenant des impuretés d'arsenic, telles qu'un électrolyte provenant de raffinage électrolytique de cuivre, le procédé comprenant la réduction de l'As(V) en As(III) en utilisant du SO2; et l'élimination de l'As(III) par échange de cations en utilisant une résine chélatante, telle qu'une résine polymère avec un groupe fonctionnel polyhydroxy amine. Le procédé peut en outre comprendre un contact membranaire entre le flux d'alimentation d'électrolyte et le flux de produit de la réaction de réduction afin de transférer sélectivement le SO2 résiduel du flux de produit dans la vapeur d'alimentation de l'électrolyte.
