A method for rate adapting a constant bit rate (CBR) client signal into a signal stream in a telecom signal communication link includes at a source node encoding into a control block a control block header, and an ordered set block-designator, encoding into a plurality of path overhead data blocks a data block header and a count of data blocks to be encoded in a signal block, encoding into each of a plurality of signal blocks a data block header, the data blocks from the CBR signal equal to the count and pad blocks, assembling the blocks into a path signal frame, appending a set of idle character blocks following the end of the path signal frame to match a link bit rate of a first link segment, and transmitting the path signal frame and idle character blocks into the first link segment at the link bit rate.

Selon l'invention, un procédé d'adaptation de débit d'un signal de client à débit binaire constant (CBR) en un flux de signal dans une liaison de communication de signal de télécommunication consiste à encoder dans un bloc de commande, au niveau d'un nœud source, un en-tête de bloc de commande, et encoder dans une pluralité de blocs de données de temps système de trajet, par un désignateur de bloc d'ensemble ordonné, un en-tête de bloc de données et un décompte de blocs de données à encoder en un bloc de signal, encoder dans chaque bloc d'une pluralité de blocs de signal un en-tête de bloc de données, les blocs de données provenant du signal CBR dont le nombre est égal au décompte et des blocs tampons, assembler les blocs dans une trame de signal de trajet, ajouter un ensemble de blocs de caractères inactifs après la fin de la trame de signal de trajet pour correspondre à un débit binaire de liaison d'un premier segment de liaison, et transmettre la trame de signal de trajet et les blocs de caractères inactifs dans le premier segment de liaison au débit binaire de liaison.
