Abstract
(EN) A novel process for production of polymers, often with fuels/chemicals as by-products. The invention consists of device design, addition polymerization process, and condensation polymerization process. The device is a mechanical design to continuously remove solid deposit, conductive or not, on electrode surface. Besides overcoming the limitation of electrochemical polymer production where the products blocks the electrode from further operation, the device provides cheaper operation for electrometallurgy to harvest the valuable metals formed on electrode. The novel process allows retrofitting conventional polymer production process by replacing conventional reactor with electrochemical reactor, for low-cost rapid implementation. The novel reactions consist of addition reaction to produce addition polymers; and intermolecular reaction to produce classes of condensation polymers. The clusters of invention enable valuable polymers and chemicals to be produced at low cost for milder conditions and cheaper equipment, while allowing utilization of alternative feedstock especially chemical wastes, for further environmental and economic benefits.
(FR) L’invention concerne un nouveau procédé de production de polymères, faisant souvent intervenir des combustibles/produits chimiques en tant que sous-produits. L'invention consiste en la conception d’un dispositif, en un procédé de polymérisation par addition et en un procédé de polymérisation par condensation. Le dispositif est une conception mécanique visant à éliminer en continu le dépôt solide, conducteur ou non, sur la surface d'électrode. En plus de surmonter la limitation de la production de polymère électrochimique due aux produits bloquant toute reprise du fonctionnement de l'électrode, le dispositif permet un fonctionnement plus économique pour l'électrométallurgie en matière de récolte des métaux de valeur formés sur l'électrode. Le nouveau procédé permet de moderniser un procédé de production de polymère classique par le remplacement d’un réacteur classique par un réacteur électrochimique, pour une mise en œuvre rapide et à faible coût. Les nouvelles réactions consistent en une réaction d'addition pour produire des polymères d'addition ; et en une réaction intermoléculaire pour produire des classes de polymères de condensation. Les agrégats de l'invention permettent de produire des polymères et des produits chimiques de valeur à faible coût dans des conditions modérées et avec des équipements moins chers, tout en permettant l'utilisation de charges alternatives, en particulier de déchets chimiques, représentant des avantages environnementaux et économiques supplémentaires.
