Pure conducting hydrogel precursors and hydrogels formed of pure conducting polymer materials having a combination of high electrical conductivity, high stretchability, low Young's modulus, superior mechanical, electrical and electrochemical stability, and tunable swelling behaviors in wet physiological environments. The hydrogel precursors and hydrogels are fabricated by adding a polar organic solvent to an aqueous solution of the pure conducting polymer material, followed by controlled dry-annealing to form a hydrogel precursor which can be subsequently rehydrated to form a pure conducting polymer hydrogel which comprises at least 99% of the pure conducting polymer.

L'invention concerne des précurseurs d'hydrogel et des hydrogels conducteurs purs formés de matériaux polymères conducteurs purs affichant une combinaison de conductivité électrique élevée, d'aptitude à l'étirage élevée, de module de Young faible, de meilleure stabilité mécanique, électrique et électrochimique, et de comportements de gonflement ajustables dans des environnements physiologiques humides. Les précurseurs d'hydrogel et les hydrogels sont fabriqués par un ajout d'un solvant organique polaire à une solution aqueuse du matériau polymère conducteur pur, suivi par un recuit à sec commandé pour former un précurseur d'hydrogel qui peut ensuite être réhydraté pour former un hydrogel polymère conducteur pur qui comprend au moins 99 % du polymère conducteur pur.
