Abstract

The apparatus includes a sensor having a multi-portion dielectric composite. A microstrip transmission line is formed on the dielectric composite and includes an input section, radiator portion, and an output section. The dielectric material adjacent the radiator portion is selected to substantially match that of the certain portions of a live organism being sensed, allowing other constituents of the organism to be sensed. This allow the radiator portion to effectively respond as if it were embedded inside the organism, removing substantial uncertainly from the measurement process. By then applying a plurality of signals to the sensor, the reflected and transmitted components of the signal can be measured and used to determine the amount of certain constituents are present in the organism.

L'invention concerne un appareil comprenant un capteur ayant un composite diélectrique à plusieurs parties. Une ligne de transmission à microruban est formée sur le composite diélectrique et comprend une section d'entrée, une partie de radiateur et une section de sortie. Le matériau diélectrique adjacent à la partie de radiateur est sélectionné pour correspondre sensiblement à celui des certaines parties d'un organisme vivant qui est détecté, permettant à d'autres constituants de l'organisme d'être détectés. Cela permet à la partie radiateur de réagir efficacement comme s'il était intégré à l'intérieur de l'organisme, ce qui permet d'éliminer de manière importante l'incertitude du processus de mesure. En appliquant ensuite une pluralité de signaux au capteur, les composantes réfléchies et transmises du signal peuvent être mesurées et utilisées pour déterminer dans quelle quantité certains constituants sont présents dans l'organisme.
