The invention is related to a membrane or separator with a polyimide coating for a lithium battery or lithium- ion capacitor. The separator includes a porous or microporous polyimide coating or layer on at least one side of a polymeric microporous layer, membrane or film. The polyimide coating or layer may include other polymers, additives, fillers. The invention provides oxidation resistance, blocks dendrite growth, adds dimensional stability, reduces shrinkage, adds high temperature performance (HTMI function), prevents electronic shorting at temperatures above 200 deg C in rechargeable lithium battery. The separator with a polyimide coating provides blocking ionic flow between the anode and the cathode in the event of thermal runaway (shutdown function).

L'invention concerne une membrane ou un séparateur pourvu d'un revêtement de polyimide, pour une pile au lithium ou un condensateur lithium-ion. Le séparateur comprend un revêtement ou une couche de polyimide poreux ou microporeux sur au moins un côté d'une couche, d'une membrane ou d'un film microporeux polymérique. Le revêtement ou la couche de polyimide peut comprendre d'autres polymères, des additifs, des charges. L'invention offre de la résistance à l'oxydation, bloque la croissance de dendrites, améliore la stabilité dimensionnelle, réduit le retrait, améliore les performances à haute température (fonction HTMI), empêche un court-circuit électronique à des températures supérieures à 200 °C dans une pile au lithium rechargeable. Le séparateur à revêtement en polyimide permet de bloquer le flux ionique entre l'anode et la cathode en cas d'emballement thermique (fonction d'arrêt).
