Nuclear power plants include vertical shafts housing a reactor and plant equipment connected between the shafts. Shafts may be formed with VSM to nuclear standards, and a basemat may be poured at the bottom, which is compatible with reactor designs such as a simplified boiling water reactors, small modular reactors, advanced reactors and sodium cooled fast reactors. Additional plant systems may be placed in further shafts and connected through side-travelling tunnels that pass through the shafts. The plant may be segregated by safety class among different shafts. Floors, which may be modular and prefabricated with full equipment for delivery at the shaft, may be vertically lowered into appropriate shafts and seated to walls of the shaft. Equipment can be connected between floors by running connections along shaft walls.

L'invention concerne des centrales nucléaires comprenant des puits verticaux logeant un réacteur et des équipements reliés d'un puits à l'autre. Des puits peuvent être formés par VSM en conformité avec des normes nucléaires, et une dalle de soubassement peut être versée au fond, ce procédé étant compatible avec des modèles de réacteur tels que des réacteurs à eau bouillante simplifiés, des petits réacteurs modulaires, des réacteurs avancés et des réacteurs rapides refroidis au sodium. Des systèmes de centrale supplémentaires peuvent être placés dans d'autres puits et reliés entre eux par des tunnels latéraux qui traversent les puits. La centrale peut être séparée par classe de sûreté entre différents puits. Des sols, qui peuvent être modulaires et préfabriqués avec des équipements complets pour une distribution au niveau du puits, peuvent être verticalement abaissés dans des puits adaptés et placés sur des parois du puits. Des équipements peuvent être reliés d'un sol à l'autre par la mise en place de connexions le long des parois de puits.
