A method for estimating a location of a target Wireless Local-Area Network (WLAN) device (402) includes obtaining relative locations of three or more WLAN devices (20, 220, 222). Respective distances are measured between each of the WLAN devices and the target WLAN device. The location of the target WLAN device is estimated based on the locations of the WLAN devices and on the measured distances, wherein measuring a distance between a WLAN device and the target WLAN device includes: exchanging WLAN signals, detecting a first leakage signal by a receiver of the WLAN device, detecting a second leakage signal by the receiver of the target WLAN device, calculating time differences between a time a WLAN signal was sent and a time a leakage signal was detected, and subtracting the time differences one from the other to obtain a time-of-flight that corresponds to the distance between the WLAN device and the target WLAN device.

La présente invention concerne un procédé permettant d'estimer l'emplacement d'un dispositif de réseau local sans fil (WLAN) cible, le procédé comprenant l'obtention d'emplacements relatifs d'au moins trois dispositifs WLAN (20, 220, 222). Des distances respectives sont mesurées entre chacun des dispositifs WLAN et le dispositif WLAN cible. L'emplacement du dispositif WLAN cible est estimé sur la base des emplacements des dispositifs WLAN et des distances mesurées, la mesure d'une distance entre un dispositif WLAN et le dispositif WLAN cible comprenant : l'échange de signaux WLAN, la détection d'un premier signal de fuite par un récepteur du dispositif WLAN, la détection d'un second signal de fuite par le récepteur du dispositif WLAN cible, le calcul de différences de temps entre le moment où un signal WLAN a été envoyé et le moment où un signal de fuite a été détecté, et la soustraction des différences de temps les unes aux autres pour obtenir un temps de vol qui correspond à la distance entre le dispositif WLAN et le dispositif WLAN cible.
