To better balance jitter, motion blur, and latency, an illumination configuration employed by a display device for illuminating a display frame is controlled via one or illumination control techniques based on one or more parameters, including frame rate, user preferences, OEM settings, hardware performance capabilities, current hardware state, image content, user gaze direction, and the like. Such illumination control techniques are generally categorized as: techniques for configuring the illumination level(s) and durations implemented within a frame period based on frame rate; techniques for configuration the position of an illumination strobe within a frame period; and techniques for controlling the illumination configuration on a region-by-region basis.

Selon la présente invention, pour mieux équilibrer la gigue, le flou de mouvement et la latence, une configuration d'éclairage utilisée par un dispositif d'affichage pour éclairer une image d'affichage est commandée par le biais d'une ou de plusieurs techniques de commande d'éclairage basées sur un ou plusieurs paramètres, y compris la fréquence d'image, les préférences de l'utilisateur, les réglages OEM, les capacités de performances du matériel, l'état actuel du matériel, le contenu d'image, la direction du regard de l'utilisateur, et analogues.
