Methods and systems for multiple-buffered display rendering without the use of hardware or software interrupts. In a first repeating process, a processor writes data for a frame a selected frame buffer and, upon completion of the frame, a swap buffer signal is transmitted. In response to the swap buffer signal, the GPU updates a memory register of the display controller to indicate that the selected frame buffer can be used in the next display synchronization interval. In a separate repeating process, the display controller monitors memory register and, in a display synchronization interval, identifies the frame buffer to use for display.

L'invention concerne des procédés et des systèmes de rendu d'affichage à multiples tampons sans utiliser d'interruptions matérielles ou logicielles. Dans un premier processus répétitif, un processeur écrit des données pour une trame d'un tampon de trame sélectionné et, lors de l'achèvement de la trame, un signal de permutation de tampon est transmis. En réponse au signal de permutation de tampon, la GPU met à jour un registre de mémoire du contrôleur d'affichage pour indiquer que le tampon de trame sélectionné peut être utilisé dans l'intervalle de synchronisation d'affichage suivant. Dans un processus répétitif séparé, le contrôleur d'affichage surveille le registre de mémoire et, dans un intervalle de synchronisation d'affichage, identifie le tampon de trame à utiliser pour l'affichage.
