A method of constructing a uni-directional motion vector merge list for triangular shape processing units (PUs) in the triangle prediction mode of video coding standards, such as the current Versatile Video Coding (VVC), is performed at a computing device. The computing device constructs the motion vector merge list for the coding unit (CU) containing the triangular shape PUs, and then constructs the uni-directional motion vector merge list for the triangular shape PUs based on the motion vector merge list for the CU.

Selon l’invention, un procédé permettant de construire une liste de fusion de vecteurs de mouvement unidirectionnel pour des unités de traitement de forme triangulaire (PU) dans le mode de prédiction triangulaire de normes de codage vidéo, telles que le codage vidéo polyvalent actuel (VVC), est mis en œuvre sur un dispositif informatique. Le dispositif informatique construit la liste de fusion de vecteurs de mouvement pour l'unité de codage (CU) contenant la forme triangulaire (PU), puis construit la liste de fusion de vecteurs de mouvement unidirectionnel pour la forme triangulaire (PU) d’après la liste de fusion de vecteurs de mouvement pour la CU.
