Techniques are provided to reduce power consumption when performing surface reconstruction. A surface mesh of an environment is generated, where the surface mesh is generated from multiple depth maps that are obtained of the environment. After the surface mesh is generated, a change detection image of that environment is captured while refraining from obtaining a new depth map of the environment. The change detection image is compared to the surface mesh. If a difference between the change detection image and the surface mesh is detected and if that difference satisfies a pre-determined difference threshold, then a new depth map of the environment is obtained. The surface mesh is then updated using the new depth map.

La présente invention concerne des techniques pour réduire la consommation d’énergie lors de la reconstruction d’une surface. Un maillage de la surface d’un environnement est généré, le maillage de la surface étant généré à partir de multiples cartes de profondeur qui sont obtenues de l’environnement. Après que le maillage de la surface a été généré, une image de détection de changement de cet environnement est capturée tout en s’abstenant d’obtenir une nouvelle carte de profondeur de l’environnement. L’image de détection de changement est comparée au maillage de la surface. Si une différence entre l’image de détection de changement et le maillage de la surface est détectée et si cette différence satisfait un seuil de différence préétabli, alors une nouvelle carte de profondeur de l’environnement est obtenue. Le maillage de la surface est ensuite mis à jour à l’aide de la nouvelle carte de profondeur.
