A nonlethal projectile includes a debilitating material for immobilizing a target. The projectile is capable of self-separating or otherwise opening after launch by a launcher to release the debilitating material prior to impact with a target. The launcher is capable of initiating separation of the projectile. Opening may also be accomplished by a control circuit with a radio-frequency identification (RFID), where an RFID tag in the projectile causes the projectile to open at a user-specified distance from the launcher or by the force of launch on the projectile. A magazine may holds a plurality of projectiles and the various projectiles of the magazine may be configured to open at different distances and/or times after launch. The launcher may include a trigger and/or a safety switch to prevent the projectile from becoming armed until a certain parameter is met. The debilitating material may also be released through pores in the projectile.

Un projectile non létal comprend une substance débilitante permettant d'immobiliser une cible. Le projectile permet une séparation automatique ou par ailleurs une ouverture après le lancement par un lanceur en vue de libérer la substance débilitante avant l'impact avec une cible. Le lanceur permet d'initier la séparation du projectile. L'ouverture peut également être réalisée par un circuit de commande avec une identification par radiofréquence (RFID), une étiquette RFID dans le projectile amenant le projectile à s'ouvrir à une distance spécifiée par l'utilisateur à partir du lanceur ou par la force de lancement sur le projectile. Un chargeur peut contenir une pluralité de projectiles et les différents projectiles du chargeur peuvent être configurés pour s'ouvrir à des distances et/ou des temps différents après le lancement. Le lanceur peut comprendre un déclencheur et/ou un interrupteur de sécurité permettant d'empêcher que le projectile soit armé jusqu'à ce qu'un certain paramètre soit atteint. La substance débilitante peut également être libérée à travers des pores dans le projectile.
