Abstract

The present invention relates to a polyethylene composition for use as insulation of pipes and cables. The polyethylene composition according to the invention comprises, based on the total weight of composition: 28 to 67 wt. % of a linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE); 32 to 55 wt. % of a high-density polyethylene (HDPE); 0 to 5 wt. % of other additives; 1.0 to 12 wt. % of a polymer additive comprising the following components: I) a semi-crystalline isotactic polypropylene; or (II) an elastomer. The composition is prepared by mixing and processing the components into a homogenous melt by using mixing equipment and an extruder. The resulting polyethylene composition has a high strength and a high elasticity expressed in an increase in the values of the tensile strength and breaking elongation to 40 MPa and 850%, respectively.

La présente invention concerne une composition de polyéthylène destinée à être utilisée comme isolation de tuyaux et de câbles. La composition de polyéthylène selon l'invention comprend, sur la base du poids total de la composition : 28 à 67 % en poids d'un polyéthylène linéaire basse densité (LLDPE) ; 32 à 55 % en poids d'un polyéthylène haute densité (HDPE) ; 0 à 5 % en poids d'autres additifs ; 1,0 à 12 % en poids d'un additif polymère comprenant les composants suivants : (I) un polypropylène isotactique semi-cristallin ; ou (II) un élastomère. La composition est préparée par mélange et transformation des composants en une masse fondue homogène à l'aide d'un équipement de mélange et d'une extrudeuse. La composition de polyéthylène obtenue présente une résistance élevée et une élasticité élevée exprimée dans une augmentation des valeurs de la résistance à la traction et de l'allongement à la rupture à 40 MPa et à 850 %, respectivement.
