A battery 10 comprises: a power generating element group 100 in which a plurality of power generating elements 110, each containing a solid electrolyte, are layered; and a first member 120 in contact with a principal surface 110c of a first power generating element, which is one power generating element from among the plurality of power generating elements 110. The principal surface 110c has a central section 110a, and annular end sections 110b that surround the central section 110a in a plan view. The first member 120 has a central region 120a that overlaps the central section 110a of the principal surface 110c in a plan view, and end regions 120b that overlap the end sections 110b of the principal surface 110c in a plan view. The central region 120a and/or the end regions 120b are in contact with the principal surface 110c. The Young's modulus of the end regions 120b is lower than the Young's modulus of the central region 120a.
