The present invention provides a safety plug that can only be moved from a non-functional in which it cannot be fully inserted into a cooperating socket to a functional state in which it can be fully inserted into a cooperating socket state by the use of a child safety mechanism. In embodiments of the invention when the safety plug is in the non-functional state one or more pins of the plug are misaligned with the cooperating socket and in the functional state said one or more pins are aligned with the cooperating socket, such that operating the child safety mechanism moves the one or more pins from the misaligned position to the aligned position. In embodiments of the invention the plug is provided with a retractable member located in or on the body of the plug; wherein the retractable member is movable to and from a second position in which it is positioned within or on the body of the plug to and from a first position in which it extends from a first side of the body thereby blocking the plug from being fully inserted into a cooperating socket. The present invention also provides a safety plug that can be moved from a non-functional state to a functional state by use of a child safety mechanism wherein the plug is biased by biasing means to be in the non-functional state when the child safety mechanism is not being operated and/or when the plug is not fully inserted into a cooperating socket.

La présente invention concerne une prise mâle de sécurité qui ne peut être déplacée que d'une position non fonctionnelle dans laquelle elle ne peut pas être complètement insérée dans une prise femelle coopérante vers un état fonctionnel dans lequel elle peut être complètement insérée dans un état de prise femelle coopérante par l'utilisation d'un mécanisme de sécurité enfant. Dans des modes de réalisation de l'invention, lorsque la prise mâle de sécurité est dans l'état non fonctionnel, une ou plusieurs broches de la prise ne sont pas alignées avec la prise femelle coopérante et dans l'état fonctionnel, ladite ou lesdites broches sont alignées avec la prise femelle coopérante, de telle sorte que le fonctionnement du mécanisme de sécurité enfant déplace la ou les broches de la position non alignée à la position alignée. Dans des modes de réalisation de l'invention, la prise mâle est pourvue d'un élément rétractable situé dans ou sur le corps de la prise; l'élément rétractable étant mobile vers et depuis une seconde position dans laquelle il est positionné à l'intérieur ou sur le corps de la prise vers et depuis une première position dans laquelle il s'étend depuis un premier côté du corps, ce qui permet d'empêcher la prise d'être complètement insérée dans une prise femelle coopérante. La présente invention concerne également une prise de sécurité qui peut passer d'un état non fonctionnel à un état fonctionnel au moyen d'un mécanisme de sécurité enfant, la prise étant sollicitée par des moyens de sollicitation pour être dans l'état non fonctionnel lorsque le mécanisme de sécurité enfant n'est pas actionné et/ou lorsque la prise mâle n'est pas complètement insérée dans une prise femelle coopérante.
