The present invention refers to a new process for the production of epsilon caprolactam (CPL) from 6-aminocaproic acid (6-ACA) which can be obtained either from traditional petro chemical processes or which can be obtained from biochemical processes. With the proposed process the reaction time for conversion of 6-aminocaproic acid to the Nylon 6 monomer is shorter and significant energy savings are possible which is advantageous for industrial scale production. The conversion of 6-aminocaproic acid to the Nylon 6 monomer runs at atmospheric pressure and in the final product epsilon caprolactam with no oligomers formation of significance is obtained.

La présente invention concerne un nouveau procédé de production de caprolactame epsilon (CPL) à partir d'acide 6-aminocaproïque (6-ACA) qui peut être obtenu soit à partir de procédés pétrochimiques classiques, soit à partir de procédés biochimiques. Le procédé selon l'invention permet de réduire le temps de réaction pour la conversion de l'acide 6-aminocaproïque en monomère de nylon 6 et de réaliser des économies d'énergie significatives, ce qui est avantageux pour une production à l'échelle industrielle. La conversion de l'acide 6-aminocaproïque en monomère de nylon 6 est réalisée à pression atmosphérique et le produit final de caprolactame epsilon est obtenu sans formation d'oligomères d'importance.
