The method for matching digital images of a single item in a data processing unit comprises steps of transforming each digital image of an item into a topographical map of local divergence of the luminance gradient vector field, from 0 detection of singularities or extrema of local divergence of the luminance gradient vector field, said singularities corresponding to points of interest in the digital image, and for each point of interest detected, encoding values of the singularity of the gradient field located on several concentric rings centered on the point of interest in order to derive a digital data vector (210), and transforming the vector into a digital hash key (220) by means of a family of LSH Cosine hash functions.

Le procédé pour apparier des images numériques d'un même article dans une unité de traitement de données comprend les étapes de transformation de chaque image numérique d'un article en une carte topographique de divergence locale du champ vectoriel de gradient de luminance, de 0 détection de singularités ou extrema de divergence locale du champ vectoriel de gradient de luminance, ces singularités correspondant à des points d'intérêt dans ladite image numérique, et pour chaque point d'intérêt détecté, d'encodage des valeurs de la singularité du champ de gradient localisées sur plusieurs anneaux concentriques centrés sur le point d'intérêt pour dériver un vecteur de données numériques (210) et de transformation dudit vecteur en une clef de hachage numérique (220) au moyen d'une famille de fonctions de hachage de type LSH Cosinus.
