Um ein Schweißverfahren so weiterzuentwickeln, dass auch bei einer höheren Anzahl (n) von Kurzschlusszyklen (Ζκη), ein gleichmäßiges Schuppenbild einer Schweißnaht gewährleistet werden kann, ist vorgesehen, dass eine bestimmte Anzahl (n) von Kurzschlusszyklen (ZKn) für die Kaltschweißphase (Pk) vorgegeben wird und dass die Kaltphasendauer (DK) der Kaltschweißphase (Pk) bei einer, eine vorgegebene Grenzzyklenzahl überschreitenden Anzahl (n) von Kurzschlusszyklen (Ζκη) in Abhängigkeit einer ermittelten Kaltphasenzeit bestimmt wird und dass nach der Kaltschweißphase (PK) in die Warmschweißphase (Pw) gewechselt wird.
