Distance and object based external notification system for automated hailing service is described. An autonomous vehicle (AV) can include a processor configured to execute instructions stored on a non-transitory computer readable medium to detect, based on sensor information, an object within the AV; determine that the object belongs to a recent occupant of the AV; and, in response to the determining that the object belongs to the recent occupant of the AV, select, based on a proximity of the recent occupant to the AV, a notification modality for sending a message to the recent occupant regarding the object; and send the message using the notification modality.

La présente invention concerne un système à base de distance et d’objet pour un service de voiturage automatisé. Un véhicule autonome (AV) peut comprendre un processeur configuré pour exécuter des instructions stockées sur un support lisible par ordinateur non transitoire pour détecter, sur la base d’informations de capteur, un objet à l’intérieur de l’AV ; déterminer que l’objet appartient à un occupant récent de l’AV ; et, en réponse à la détermination du fait que l’objet appartient à l’occupant récent de l’AV, sélectionner, sur la base d’une proximité de l’occupant récent de l’AV, une modalité de notification pour envoyer un message à l’occupant récent concernant l’objet ; et envoyer le message au moyen de la modalité de notification.
