A video coder can be configured to code video data by determining a first block size threshold for a block of video data; determining a second block size threshold, wherein the second block size threshold is smaller than the first block size threshold; partitioning the block of video data into smaller sub-blocks; in response to determining that a first partition of the partitioned block is smaller or equal to the first block size threshold, determining that blocks within the partition belong to a parallel estimation area; and in response to determining that a second partition of the partitioned block is smaller or equal to the second block size threshold, determining that blocks within the second partition belong to an area for a shared candidate list.

Un codeur vidéo peut être configuré pour coder des données vidéo par : la détermination d’un premier seuil de taille de bloc pour un bloc de données vidéo ; la détermination d’un second seuil de taille de bloc, le second seuil de taille de bloc étant plus petit que le premier seuil de taille de bloc ; le partitionnement du bloc de données vidéo en des sous-blocs plus petits ; en réponse au fait de déterminer qu’une première partition du bloc partitionné est inférieure ou égale au premier seuil de taille de bloc, le fait de déterminer que des blocs dans la partition appartiennent à une zone d’estimation parallèle ; et en réponse au fait de déterminer qu’une seconde partition du bloc partitionné est inférieure ou égale au second seuil de taille de bloc, le fait de déterminer que des blocs dans la seconde partition appartiennent à une zone pour une liste de candidats partagés.
