A method of video decoding performed in a video decoder includes receiving compressed geometric data corresponding to a three dimensional (3D) space. The method further includes receiving a low resolution occupancy map associated with the data cloud. The method further includes converting the low resolution occupancy map to a high resolution occupancy map. The method further includes reconstructing a point cloud using the compressed geometric data and the high resolution occupancy map. The method further includes performing a smoothing operation on one of the (i) reconstructed point cloud and (ii) the high resolution occupancy map.

La présente invention concerne un procédé de décodage vidéo réalisé dans un décodeur vidéo consistant à recevoir des données géométriques compressées correspondant à un espace tridimensionnel (3D). Le procédé consiste en outre à recevoir une carte d'occupation à faible résolution associée au nuage de données. Le procédé comprend en outre la conversion de la carte d'occupation à basse résolution en une carte d'occupation à haute résolution. Le procédé comprend en outre la reconstruction d'un nuage de points à l'aide des données géométriques compressées et de la carte d'occupation à haute résolution. Le procédé comprend en outre l'exécution d'une opération de lissage sur l'un parmi le nuage de points reconstruit (i) et (ii) la carte d'occupation à haute résolution.
