Oxidized disulfide oil (ODSO) compounds, derived from by-product disulfide oil (DSO) compounds from the MEROX process, are effective as lubricity additives for transportation fuels. Significant increases in lubricity of ultra-low sulfur fuels as measured by the WSD test were observed with addition of ODSO compounds in the range of from 0.1 ppmw to 10 ppmw. This use of ODSO compounds as lubricity additives converts an otherwise DSO waste oil product into a valuable commodity that has utility in improving lubricity properties of transportation fuels.

L'invention concerne des composés d'huile de disulfure oxydé (ODSO), dérivés de composés d'huile de disulfure de sous-produit (DSO) provenant du procédé de MEROX, efficaces en tant qu'additifs à pouvoir lubrifiant pour des carburants de transport. Des augmentations significatives du pouvoir lubrifiant de carburants à très faible teneur en soufre, telles que mesurées par le test WSD, ont été observées avec l'addition de composés ODSO dans la plage allant de 0,1 ppmw à 10 ppmw. Cette utilisation de composés ODSO en tant qu'additifs à pouvoir lubrifiant convertit un produit d'huile autrement usée DSO en un produit de valeur qui a une utilité dans l'amélioration des propriétés de pouvoir lubrifiant de carburants de transport.
