A method of controlling intra-inter prediction for decoding or encoding of a video sequence, is performed by at least one processor. The method includes determining whether one or more neighboring blocks in a video sequence is coded by an intra prediction mode, entropy coding a prediction mode flag of a current block by a first context in response to determining that at least one of the neighboring blocks is coded by the intra prediction mode, and entropy coding the prediction mode flag of the current block by a second context in response to determining that none of the neighboring blocks are coded by at least the intra prediction mode.

L'invention concerne un procédé de commande de prédiction intra-inter pour le décodage ou le codage d'une séquence vidéo, qui est exécuté par au moins un processeur. Le procédé comprend les étapes suivantes consistant à : déterminer si un ou plusieurs blocs voisins dans une séquence vidéo sont codés par un mode de prédiction intra, coder par entropie un drapeau de mode de prédiction d'un bloc courant par un premier contexte en réponse à la détermination du fait qu'au moins l'un des blocs voisins est codé par le mode de prédiction intra, et coder par entropie le drapeau de mode de prédiction du bloc courant par un second contexte en réponse à la détermination du fait qu'aucun des blocs voisins n'est codé par au moins le mode de prédiction intra.
